One of fall’s more intriguing films, The Girl in the Spider’s Web, is set to make its theatrical debut on November 9th, but before then it will make its premiere during the Rome Film Festival which runs from October 18-28.
The Girl in the Spider’s Web is the continuation of the Millennium saga, which follows the story of hacker Lisbeth Salander and journalist Mikael Blomkvist. Noomi Rapace previously played the role in the original three Swedish films starting with The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. The American remake of the first film starred Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig, and although it was planned for all three movies to be remade, only the first one was. The latest entry in the series stars The Crown’s Claire Foy in the lead role.
Stieg Larsson wrote the original novels, but passed away before any of them were published. The manuscripts were discovered after his death. Author David Lagercrantz was hired to continue the series, and so far has written two novels. The Girls in the Spider’s Web is the first of these novels.
