‘Hustlers’ Movie Brought In $33 Million Opening Weekend

The Hustlers flick debuted in the no. 2 spot at the box office, raking in $33.2 million. This is major for the film’s star,  Jennifer Lopez, making this the biggest opening weekend of her career.

Hustlers is based on a true 2015 article in  New York Magazine that told the story of a group of strippers that plotted to drug and steal from their Wall Street patrons. The female-led cast also includes KeKe Palmer, Constance Wu, Cardi B and Lizzo.

Most of the moviegoers were female as well with 67 percent of audience being female.

Hustlers came in behind It: Chapter Two, taking the number one spot with $40.7  million domestically and $153 million globally. It had the international advantage over Hustlers, which is the product of the indie studio, STX Films.
