Oscar winning actor Jared Leto is stepping into a new pair of shoes, or perhaps we should say robe. The 45 year old actor has signed on to play Hugh Hefner in a new, as yet to be titled, biopic.
Director Brett Ratner has been circling Hefner for a long time. He first was attached to direct a film based on his life over a decade ago, but it never materialized. Then earlier this year Ratner announced that he was re-launching the development of it. At that point Hefner was going to be one of the executive producers, but with his death on September 27th that plans will obviously be changed as well. At the time Hefner had given his blessing on the project, even stating that he was looking forward to it.
Hefner is most famous for launching Playboy magazine in the 1950’s, and creating an entire empire based around it. Leto won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 2013 film “Dallas Buyers Club” and was last seen playing the Joker in last year’s “Suicide Squad”. He will be seen on the big screen starting again this week when he stars alongside Ryan Goslin and Harrison Ford in “Blade Runner 2049”.
