Rumours have been spreading for weeks that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were expecting their first child, but there had been no official word on it. That is, until today when Kensington Palace confirmed the news.
In a released statement, Kensington Palace said “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019. Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”
The new comes five months after the couple’s very public royal wedding back in May. The couple started dating in July 2016 after being set up on a blind date, but the announcement that they were dating wasn’t announced until October 2016. While dating they spent time in both London and Toronto, but now live together at Kensington Palace.
The pair are currently touring Australia to promote the upcoming Invictus Games and are expected to stay on their first tour together for 16 days before heading back home.
