Children only know Santa Claus to be a bearded, jolly white man and Amber Ravenel is trying to change that. Through her PR agency, the Ravenel agency, she has founded the Black Santa App. It allows children to receive video messages from Santa himself, but Santa Claus will be adorned in melanin.

The app, which is only available in iPhones, was inspired by Ravenel’s niece’s disbelief about there being a Black Santa.

“When I grew up there was only one type of Santa, and no matter where I went they always looked the same,” the CEO told the Huffington Post. “Not one looked like me or anyone in my family. As our society becomes more and more diverse, I think it’s crucial that there is diversity and inclusion in all aspects of life, the tech tools we use and that should include Santa Claus as well.”

So far, this is the only app of it’s kind. Ravenel wants to add Santas of more ethnicites in the future.

The app isn’t free though. It’s available for $2.99 in the iTunes store.
