The Canadian Nation Exhibition (CNE), also known as “The Ex,” is back this year with 17 days of ridiculous rides, eccentric eats, and sensational shows. From a casino to a friendly farm, the fair has something for every age group. Whether you’re going on a date, taking your kids, or hanging out with a group of friends, every Toronto native knows that the CNE is a must-attend end-of-summer event. Starting August 17th, make sure to come prepared to experience thrilling amusement park rides, creative deep fried concoctions, and lively musical performances. We’ve fashioned a list of some of the latest and greatest attractions to get you excited for the 2018 CNE, which is located at the Exhibition Place at 210 Princes’ Boulevard, Toronto, Ontario.

Legends of the Silk Road

The CNE is celebrating Canada-China Tourism by enlisting DDM Entertainment and Events along with 50 artists to create 17 glowing lanterns made of synthetic silks. This new feature will create clouds of colour above the park as attendees below devour sugary goods, scream with joy on rides, and watch performances in awe.

Quatro: The Aerial Acrobatic and Ice Skating Show

This brand new show is themed around the elements of earth, wind, water, and fire. This show is said to dazzle audiences with unbelievable performances and an original mix of modern music hits. Some of the world’s top circus performers and ice skaters come together to put on this incredible show featuring Vanessa Bauer, 2018 Dancing on Ice Champion, and former Cirque du Soleil entertainer, Angela Kim.

Celebrating 50 Years of The Zipper

The Zipper is making its return to The Ex after taking a year off. This is an important year for the ride, as it celebrates its 50th year at the iconic fair. This ride has an especially dedicated cult following. Many see this ride as a rite of passage for those youngsters finally tall enough to experience the thrill and fear of conquering The Zipper.

Food Frenzy

The CNE is known to feature some of the latest culinary creations to hit Toronto. The tasty treats always cause a stir that attracts foodies from all over the city. Currently, The Ex’s website has yet to release the 2018 lineup for the food hall. Attendees can however, expect classic corn dogs, cotton candy, and chocolate dipped bananas along with some unique grub like last year’s Crabmac from Fidel Gastros, Cheese stuffed Doritos from Farm to Fryer and Cookie Monster Chimney Cones from Chimney Stax Baking Co.

Moving Music

You can expect some big names to take the stage this summer. The CNE lineup includes Marianas Trench, Emerson Drive, Birds of Bellwoods and The Trews. These bands and many others are sure to put on some memorable performances that will have people up on their feet and dancing.
