There’s no denying it; the matte lip trend is going strong in the makeup community. Celebrities, bloggers and models alike are sporting this chic look for every occasion. While we still love our creamy, conditioning lipsticks and hydrating lip glosses, we also know how fun it is to change up your style sometimes. If you want to try this lipstick trend, we have a few easy hacks to create a matte lip color with products that are already in your makeup bag.
4 Hacks to Create a Matte Lip Color
If you’ve tried a matte lipstick, there’s a good chance your lips felt very dry by the end of the day. That’s because most matte lipsticks increase the concentration of ingredients like powder pigments and waxes to create the desired flat, matte finish. With our products, it is easy to achieve a stylish matte lipstick look without giving up the nourishing, moisturizing feel you know and love. All you have to do is try one of the below hacks. Whether it be a bold, matte red lip or an understated peachy nude, we have you covered.
1) Skip the Gloss
Do you already love Lip Fixation Lip Stain/Gloss? This long-lasting product makes it easy to create a matte lip look. All you have to do is skip the gloss! Apply the stain side to your lips, wait 30 seconds and apply a second coat. Let it dry and voila, a budge-proof matte lip.
2) Use a Mattifying Powder
Try using two of your go-to products together. First, swipe on your favorite PureMoist Lipstick shade. Next, take a tissue and separate the two-ply. Hold one side of the tissue to your lips and dust your favorite mattifying powder (we love Amazing Matte Loose Finishing Powder) through the tissue onto your lips. The tissue helps ensure you apply just the right amount of powder to lock your lipstick in place and give it a matte finish. (Pro Tip: You can use this trick on top of any combination of your favorite lip products!)
3) Customize Your Matte Color
Do you have a matte blush shade that would look amazing as a lip color? Create your own matte lip color by applying a LipDrink SPF 15 Lip Balm to your lips. Then, use your finger or an Eye Shader Brush to gently pat PurePressed Blush on top. Not only does it create the perfect, moisturized matte finish, but you get the added bonus of sun protection! Our favorite color combinations are Crush LipDrink Lip Balm + Mystique PurePressed Blush for a deep berry hue and Buff LipDrink Lip Balm + Flawless PurePressed Blush for a matte nude shade.
4) Stencil with a Pencil
Ever thought of using a Lip Pencil on its own? Try both lining and filling in your lips with a lip pencil—no lipstick required. The waxes and oils give you a matte look without leaving your lips feeling dried and chapped. (Pro Tip: Use the flocked Sponge to roll-press PurePressed Base to your bare lips prior to applying the lip liner. This will ensure you get the truest color possible.)
