Ray Donovan star Pooch Hall faces serious charges for an October 3 collision in Burbank, California where he was seen driving with his two-year-old son on his lap.
According to TMZ, the actor was charged with charged with felony child abuse and driving under the influence, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced on Wednesday. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday and could face a maximum of six years in prison if he is convicted.
Witnesses reported Hall was driving around 7:30 p.m. on October 3 with his son steering the wheel. The actor’s car eventually crashed, but no one was physically hurt in the incident. Witnesses also say they saw an unattached car seat in the backseat, and observed the toddler was crying.
When police arrived, Hall was reportedly inebriated and unable able to speak. He was asked to perform a sobriety test which he failed with a .25 blood alcohol level, more than 3 times the legal limit. Hall was arrested and held on $100,000 bail.
The toddler is currently in the custody of Hall’s wife, along with their three other children.
Days later the Los Angeles County’s Department of Children and Family Services is launching an investigation into Hall as standard procedure. The Department reportedly looked into questioning Hall and his family to determine whether the incident was an isolated occurrence.
Hall is currently a series regular on the Showtime hit Ray Donovan, where he plays Darryl Donovan, the half-brother to Liev Schreiber’s title character. He’s appeared in several roles for film and TV including Jumping The Broom and Chuck. His portrayal of Derwin Davis on the CW/BET series The Game, alongside Tia Mowry-Hardict, propelled him to fame.
