Adorn Your Home With Mid-Century Modern Décor Now

The calendar may read 2017, but the architecture and interior design worlds continue to draw their inspiration from the world of mid-century modern design. Inspired by the years 1933 to 1965, this decorating style pays tribute to past decades which have left an impact on the design world. If you’re ready to draw your influences from mid-century themes, here’s how to modernize this design scheme and bring it into your humble abode today.
Turn to a grey armchair and basic wooden shelves for a minimalist take: If your tastes lean toward minimalism and neutral hues, try accessorizing your living room with a dove grey fabric armchair. Meanwhile, a contrasting white pillow, icy grey blue walls and wooden cabinetry or shelving lends a finishing touch.

Use a wooden chest-of-drawers as a statement piece in your bedroom: With the practical chest-of-drawers playing a vital role in vintage design, no mid-century modern bedroom is complete without this touch. Woods pairs well with darker shades of green, hardwood flooring and quaint wicker furniture.

Decorate with earthy tones, slender desks and plush seating: Since shades of brown and various peachy hues are so prevalent in mid-century design, try incorporating this colour scheme into your home office. Try painting an accent wall in a rich terracotta shade, and adding a plush velvet chair in a matching hue. Meanwhile, a sleek wooden office desk in an inky black flatters your décor, while a funky desk lamp offers a contemporary effect.
