Best Celebrity Moments Of 2016
Like every year celebrities have been in the news on a daily basis, with some big scandals and incredible moments. From Leonardo’s DiCaprio’s big Oscar win to U.S. election, we look at the best celebrity moments of the year.
Leonardo DiCaprio finally wins his Oscar: The fifth time really was the charm, as Leonardo DiCaprio finally won his acting Oscar for his starring role in The Revenant. He’d come close four time before, including in 2005 and 2007 when people thought he should have won, but 2016 is the year that he finally took the golden statue home.
Tatiana Maslany wins her Emmy: It’s hard to believe Maslany hadn’t won an Emmy for her role on Orphan Black before this year. After all she plays multiple roles in the popular show, and the show itself wouldn’t be as good without her. 2016 was finally her year, and the Canadian actress’s star only continues to rise.
Beyonce launches Lemonade: Beyonce surprised the world with the launch of her sixth album in April, and the role she’s on because of it doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. The album is considered to be her most personal yet, and has included not only an album, but a strong film as well that got Emmy consideration.
Gigi Hadid fight off her attacker: Just because she’s a model, doesn’t mean she’s vulnerable. When someone ran through the crowd when Gigi was leaving the Max Mara show in Milan back in September and grabbed her from behind, she elbowed and kicked him until he let her go. The attacker was identified as Vitalii Sediuk, a notorious red carpet prankster who has kissed Will Smith and attacked Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in the past.
Drake professes his love for Rihanna: We all knew how Drake felt about Rihanna, even without him saying a thing. But at the MTV VMAs this year he publicly told the world how he felt, while speaking directly to her. It was a special moment that leaves us wondering what is next for the duo.
The U.S. Presidential election: Whether you like how the U.S. election turned out or not, you’ve got to admit that the election itself had the world buzzing. Not only did the debates themselves provide comedic moments, but the seemingly endless stream of memes, Saturday Night Live Sketches, and comedy skits kept us fully entertained all year long.
