While the shining sun may be one of the best parts of spring and summer, it’s important to remember that its rays can be damaging to skin. Most people think sunscreen is only required for a day at the beach but, the truth is, it’s actually necessary to apply SPF protection on a daily basis. Even on a cloudy day, exposed skin and particularly the facial area can still be exposed to harmful UV rays. SPF protection doesn’t just prevent sunburns, it also helps prevent future damage, sun spots, and decrease the chances of skin cancer. Here are some facial sunscreens that can easily be worked into your daily skincare routine.
NEUTROGENA Ultra Sheer SPF 110 Dry-Touch Sunscreen Lotion, $12: Made with their Dry-Touch technology, this Neutrogena sunscreen is best for those who want to protect their skin without the often oily feeling of sunscreen. With an SPF of 110, it claims to protect against skin-aging UVA and burning UVB rays. The water-resistant formula is also non-comedogenic, which means that it won’t clog pores.
SHISEIDO Urban Environment Oil-Free UV Protector Broad Spectrum SPF 42 For Face, $37: This particular sunscreen is best for those with oily skin. The oil-free formula claims to reduce the look of pores and also to mattify the face for a shine-free visage. It claims to protect the face from three major concerns: UV rays, oxidation and the over-production of sebum that can lead to visible skin damage.
TARTE Tarteguard 30 Sunscreen Lotion, $40: For those looking for a more natural product, the Tarteguard 30 is a non-chemical, vegan sunscreen. The hypoallergenic formula is created with maracuja, red algae, soybean, apple, and honeysuckle extracts. It claims to protect, moisturize, brighten and re-invigorate skin. This sunscreen acts as protection against UVA/ UVB rays, while offering the skincare benefits of a daily moisturizer.
TOM FORD Face Protect Broad Spectrum SPF 50, $106: While this product is marketed as a primer, its high SPF level makes it a good defense against the sun’s rays. It claims to be made with powerful antioxidants and soothing anti-irritants which can calm the skin. It can be worn alone as UV ray protection or underneath foundation.
