Best Looks From New York Fashion Week Fall 2017
For Fall 2017, the New York Fashion Week Runways presented another array of stunning designs, with luxurious flowing frocks, voluminous gowns and statement outerwear on display. At Marc Jacobs, models embraced the designer’s urban and streetwear inspired collection, which was inspired by the Hip-Hop Evolution documentary. Neutral shades of beige, camel and grey all made their way onto the catwalk. along with splashes of colour. Meanwhile, oversized plaid, corduroy and denim jackets were detailed with thick furry collars. Slinky slip dresses shared the spotlight with argyle knits and flared trousers, while bits of metallic gold illuminated the collection.
On the Marchesa runway, co-designers Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman turned to a plethora of soft, pastel shades. The elaborate dresses on the catwalk were detailed with multicoloured embroidery, delicate illusion necklines and sheer tulle hemlines. From shimmering embellishment to nipped-in waistlines and barely there lace, elegance was a key theme for the season ahead.
At Oscar de la Renta, co-creative directors Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia presented all manner of neon hues. Models walked in scarlet-hued strapless dresses and long coats, with extreme sequins making an appearance in the form of a flared frock and peplum blouse. For a contrasting effect, basic black tailored trousers were also paired with vividly decorated yet structured tops.
Designer Michael Kors revealed strong and classic silhouettes that instantly evoked the idea of power. From menswear inspired coats to beige shirtdresses, the Fall 2017 collection had a certain corporate chic feel. Wide belts cinched in waistlines, while grey knits, plaid, filmy blouses, animal prints and fur coats all captured a ladylike yet fierce theme.
