Bobby Brown Struggles To Keep It Together During Scenes Of Bobbi Kristina’s Death In The Bobby Brown Story

Filming for the BET biopic The Bobby Brown Story has begun. It will depict the RB singer’s roller-coaster ride of fame, including some of his most trying times.

While there were many tough roads the star himself traveled, none were tougher than the one he had to go through when his daughter Bobbi Kristina died. So, you can only imagine how emotional the set would be when it came time to re-enact the scenes involving her death.

According to Billboard, Bobby Brown has not been able to keep it together, often breaking into tears while watching scenes of this traumatic event.

Woody McClain, who reprised his role as Brown from BET’s The New Edition Story, said that even talking about Bobbi Kristina’s death still brings him to tears.

“You would see the emotions on his face, [him] tearing up,” he said. “I would quickly switch the subject. I don’t want him to relive it again. Those are super tough moments.”

Bobbi Kristina was found unresponsive in a bathtub in 2015. After six months in a coma, she died at just 22-years-old, and in a recent interview, the 49-year-old said that he’s still in mourning.

“I go through it every day,” he said. “Just the thought of her and looking at my youngest daughter and my other kids, knowing they’ll never get to know their oldest sister is a struggle. It gets rough sometimes. Of course, I have to go through it because I can’t change it.”

Jesse Collins, an executive producer on the project, said that getting Brown to talk about his late daughter was the hardest subject for him to discuss. No matter what, the “My Prerogative” singer would get emotional.

“That was the hardest part was getting him to talk about [stuff], especially Bobbi Kris,” Collins said. “Whenever you talk about her, he gets emotional. A loss of a child is something I can’t even begin to fathom. But he got there and explained what happened, the nature of their relationship.”

Brown believes that Bobbi Kristina’s former boyfriend, Nick Gordon, is responsible for her death. He was found culpable in a wrongful death lawsuit, and an Atlanta judge ordered him to pay $36 million to Bobbi Kristina’s estate.

While no one can put into words what it must feel like to lose a child, Brown’s wife, Alicia Etheredge Brown, shared that she hopes that her husband considers therapy.

“We’re just trying to figure out as we go along,” she said. “With life, we’re looking for therapy and outlets. For him to still be able to be creative, find peace and joy, that’s what I want for him.”
