Chewbacca Mom Candace Payne Launches Two TLC Digital Series: Details!
The Force is still strong with this one! Candace Payne, better known as Chewbacca Mom, had the most popular Facebook Live video of 2016, and now she’s heading to TLC’s digital platform as a contributing video-blogger, Us Weekly can exclusively announce.
Payne — who lives in Dallas, Texas, with husband Chris and their two children — uploaded a video in May of herself laughing hysterically while wearing a mask that mimicked the Star Wars character’s iconic roar. The Facebook Live post eventually racked up over 160 million views and made her one of the year’s most recognizable viral stars.
Now she’s launching a vlog for TLCme that will consist of two digital series. One is 2 Truths a Lie With Candace, which will be shot selfie-style from her car, just as she filmed her signature Chewbacca video. She’ll be telling three detailed stories, and then fans will get to share their guesses in the Facebook comments as to which one is the fib. Payne will reveal the truths and the lie the following day in a Facebook Live session.
The other series is Sing-Along With Candace, which will film in her home. Each episode will have a theme and feature Payne performing an original song with lyrics suggested on social media by fans.
“Since becoming Chewbacca Mom, life has become a bit crazy,” Payne says in the first promo, exclusive to Us. “I’ve gotten to do some real cool things, like be on Good Morning America and James Corden‘s show and to get to meet J.J. Abrams. But it’s about to get more fun because I just joined the TLCme family, and I’m so excited to be there.”
