The sequel to the hit film Creed is finally moving forward, and now it finally has an opponent for star Michael B. Jordan.
German-Romanian boxer Florian Munteanu has been cast to star in Creed 2 as the son of Rocky’s infamous opponent in Rocky IV, Drago. Creed will once again feature Michael B. Jordan starring as Adonis Johnson, the son of Rocky’s former rival/friend Apollo Creed. In the 2015 film Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky Balboa mentored Adonis, and he too will return in a similar capacity. Creed 2 will also feature Dolph Lundgren’s return as Drago, the fighter who killed Adonis’ dad in the ring. Also returning will be Tessa Thompson, who played Adonis’ love interest Bianca.
Creed was an easy way to update Rocky for modern audiences, but it also earned Sylvester Stallone a Best Supporting Actor Nomination at the 2016 Academy Awards. It was the second time he’d been nominated for playing the role, the first coming for the 1977 original.
As previously announced, Creed 2 will be directed by Steven Caple, and is set to start filming in March in Philadelphia. Creed 2 will hit theatre on November 21st.
