While designer Peter Dundas may have become synonymous with exotic prints at Roberto Cavalli, the Italian label’s creative director has exited the company. According to Women’s Wear Daily, Dundas officially left the fashion house yesterday.
WWD also reports that Roberto Cavalli is making plans to restructure its organization, and is said to be reducing its staff by 30 percent. The brand’s CEO Gian Giacomo Ferraris also gave a statement to WWD, which addresses this decision.
“After my initial examination of the company I believe the Cavalli brand has what it takes to succeed. But the reality is that the company’s costs must be in line with its revenues and that is the task we now have to embark upon,” Ferrraris said.
Dundas recently showed his Spring 2017 collection at Milan Fashion Week in September. The designer’s grand finale Roberto Cavalli line featured his signature 1970s inspired aesthetic, bold mixed prints and flowing silhouettes. The Norwegian-born design talent was titled Roberto Cavalli’s creative director in March 2015. Previously, Dundas had led the Italian house of Emilio Pucci from 2008 until 2015.
