Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham And Charlize Theron To Star In Fast And Furious Spin-Off
There have been rumours circulating that the reason Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel were “feuding” last summer was because a Fast and Furious spin-off had been discussed behind Diesel’s back, but if that is true than he has nothing to be angry about because the movie spin-off has now be announced. Of course even if the feud was real, the pair seem to have put it all behind them now.
With the Fast and Furious continuing to succeed, and with a bigger and bigger cast with each film, it’s not surprising that Universal wants to expand the franchise. Word is that Universal has hired Chris Morgan, a writer who has worked on the last six films of the series, to write a sceenplay for a film surrounding Johnson’s Luke Hobbs character and Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw. Johnson has been part of the franchise since the 5th film, and Statham since an end credits scenes in the 6th one. It’s also rumoured that Charlize Theron’s cyberterrorist character Cipher would be included as well.
So far the 8 films in the franchise have made more than $4.8 Billion worldwide. The latest installment, The Fate of the Furious, has been the top film the last two weeks, totalling $163 million so far.
As for when the series will end, rumour has it they are looking at the 10th film being the ending of the franchise, although we’ve heard that the end was near before.
