Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Is The Sexist Man Alive 2016, See His Best Roles
For a man that first became well known as a wrestler, it’s surprising that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has become as popular as he has outside the ring. Other wrestlers have tried dipping their feet into the acting pool, like Hulk Hogan and John Cena, but in most cases their movies have been second class B movies that were maybe a little fun, but nothing noteworthy. Johnson on the other hand has become a bankable box office draw, and now the 44 year old has been named People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2016. In order to celebrate his new title, we take a look at our favourite movies the 6’5″, 245 lbs. superstar has starred in.
The Fast and Furious Franchise: Ever since coming on board the Fast and Furious series as Hobbs in Fast Five, Johnson has been on a role. Not to say he wasn’t in any good movies before 2011, but hitching himself onto the fast paced action series hasn’t hurt. It was a perfect fit, and seeing him up against Vin Diesel, and then teaming up with him, was a dream come true.
Central Intelligence: Johnson proved he was funny many times in the wrestling ring, and then again during his hosting duties on Saturday Night Live, and with this year’s Central Intelligence he had his first big hit where he starred in a comedic film. Of course being teamed with Kevin Hart didn’t hurt. Their differences in size alone provided several laughs. At this point, it’s by far one of the best comedy’s of the year.
Snitch: You may not believe it due to his size, but Johnson really can play an every man character too. Snitch may not be the best rated of Johnson’s movies, but it was still fun to watch him go under cover to clear his son’s name.
San Andreas: The Rock vs nature is the basic plot of this action film. In it Johnson is searching for his family after a massive earthquake strikes California. It’s might not be the most original film ever made, but it’s got some cool scenes, and a sequel is on the way. And it was one of the top grossing films of 2015.
Faster: Another typical action film, that is fun to watch. The best action stars help you suspend your disbelief and just enjoy what you are watching, and this is one of them. In it he plays a released prisoner who seeks vengeance on those he believes betrayed him.
