Emma Stone Turned Down Villain Role In Wonder Woman 2
One of the biggest theatrical successes of 2017 was Patty Jenkin’s Wonder Woman, so much so that people were surprised that the film wasn’t nominated for a Best Picture Oscar. Still, even without awards behind it, Wonder Woman is moving full steam ahead with a big budget sequel. One celebrity though definitely won’t be in it.
Rumours have been pretty consistent that the villain in the upcoming sequel will be Wonder Woman’s arch nemesis Cheetah, and that Warner Bros. and director Patty Jenkins would like to find an A-List celebrity to play the role. According to That Hashtag Show, an offer was made to La La Land star Emma Stone, who apparently passed on the opportunity. Stone of course has already got a pair of super-hero films on her resume, starring alongside Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2.
Wonder Woman 2 is set to be released on November 1st, 2019, and is based on a script Jenkins wrote with DC Comics Geoff Johns and Ant-Man scribe Dave Callaham. Gal Gadot and Chris Pine are both returning, and it is said to take place during the 1980s during the Cold War.
