Flashback Friday: Solange And Keke Palmer Cover Selena
Today marks the twenty-second anniversary of the death of Selena Quintanilla. The Tejano singer was murdered by her fan club president march 31, 1995, five days after rapper Easy-E died of AIDS. Today, many took to Twitter to remember Selena and we took to the Internet to search how Black stars have paid homage to the young starlet over the years. That’s when we discovered videos of Solange and Keke Palmer singing two of the Corpus Christi native’s biggest hits.
During a live performance at Nouveau Casino in Paris in 2013, Solange sang the English language crossover hit “I could Fall in Love with You” while Keke, during an interview in 2012, sang “Amor Prohibido” after discussing her former relationship with a first-generation Guateleman. Keke has also covered “I Could Fall in Love with You” during one of her famous singing vlogs which you can check out below. What do you think?
