G.O.O.D Deeds: Kanye West Donates $150,000 To Slain Security Guard’s Family

After deciding to remove himself from politics and quiet his MAGA praises, Kanye West has been opening his wallet recently support other causes. Yeezy donated to Democratic Chicago Mayoral Candidate Amara Enyia earlier this month to support her campaign and he has become generous once again. The Chi-town native donated $150,000 to the family of Jemel Roberson, a 26-year-old Chicago security guard who has killed while on duty, TMZ reports.
While working at Manny’s Blue Room Bar, Roberson was escorting drunken patrons out. One of them returned with a gun and opened fire. Roberson fired back and then restrained the man and held him at gunpoint until the authorities arrived. When police arrived, Roberson was shot and killed.
The family opened a GoFundMe page to cover his burial expenses, requesting $10,000. Mr . West helped them go way over their limit with his hefty donation. As of now, $306,511 has been donated.
Civil rights attorney Lee Merritt and the Roberson family are urging that the Illinois State Police and the Midlothian Police Department to release the name of the officer, which they have yet to do.
They refused to release Amber Guyger’s name, which gave her a chance to scrub the internet and hide evidence,” Merritt told USA Today. “It’s exactly what’s going on here.”
Roberson left behind a 9-month old son. Roberson had reportedly picked up extra shifts to make more money so his son could have a wonderful first Christmas.
His killing is currently under investigation.
