Google Maps just made Ubering so much easier and convenient
Uber app, get ready, because you’ve got some competition. Google just made a big announcement about an upgrade in their app, and it sounds REALLY easy and convenient. You can now use the Google Maps app to request a car to your location, without ever having to leave the app. It sounds too good to be true, but stay with us.
All you have to do is login with your Uber username and password on Google Maps, and all the same info you use on the Uber app will show up in Google Maps. From there, you just go to the “ride services” section (where you can see how long it would take to drive, take a bus, bike, etc.), and you’ll see an option for requesting a car.
This isn’t anything new. However, in the past, you would be given a list of pricing options to order an Uber or a Lyft, and then you’d have to leave Google Maps and transfer over to those apps to complete the transaction. But Google Maps has changed it now so all you can just get the job done right then and there.
So easy it’s stupid. You stay in the Google Maps app to see how far away the car is from you, and how long it will take to get to where you are. We can’t imagine Uber is exactly *happy* about this new feature on Google Maps, because it potentially gives you no reason at all to use their app anymore, which has just been upgraded.
