Former Daily Show correspondent and star of Netflix’s the The Incredible Jessica James is proof that it indeed goes down in the DM’s. The self-proclaimed Harry Potter fan recently announced that she’ll be starring in the sequel to author J.K. Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, and she just might have the magic of social media to thank for it.

Glamour reports Williams initially connected with Rowling on Twitter when the fantasy author sent her a “Happy Birthday” message since the pair ironically share the same day. After a brief exchange, the two eventually met up. Williams posted a pic of the two celebrating together and Williams affectionately referring to the Harry Potter creator as, “Jojo”.
⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️?. Cool. Now that we’ve established that I’m dead- I met FREAKING J??K??R??O??W??L??I??N??G (aka Jo Jo- lol she lets me call her that. So ignorant.) originally like a month ago. Obviously we all know that I’ve been a Harry Potter nut since I was 10 years old so I was very nervous to meet one of my sheroes for the first time. What would I wear? What do you say at the alter (lmaooo)? What if we like…don’t get along? Will I quit reading books forever because we don’t get along? So I hung out with Jojo and was relieved that we got on verrrrry well and I was so stoked because meeting your heroes can be a real toss up of either cupcakes or dog doodoo if you know what I mean. This right here was cupcakes. We had like a legit full six hours of drinks and cocktails. Did I lowkey tear up during dinner? Yes. Am I aware that it was a trash bonkers thing to do over dinner while she’s biting into her plate of veggies? Yes. But any sort of extreme emotion makes my eyes well up. #standinginmytruth #therealme #lovemeforme. Anyway- I had so much fun talking about life/politics/thesims with her over 25 cocktails that I felt like a realllll dweeblord for FORGETTING to snag a photo. The following day my mom tried to comfort me after I forgot to get a photo by saying “That’s okay baby. You guys hung out for you two only and not social media.” She was low key very correct but also she’s my mother so I was like “?????.” So cut to last night- and (wildly)I’m hanging out with the Khaleesi again and I was on my way out the damn door and was like “……wait I’m sorry can I get a photo? For my Instagram?? (I know such ?)” She was like “yes Jess of course!” So we took a few photos and yes she’s a major babe and here she is on my IG feed for the both you And me to enjoy. ⚰️ #eatcraylove #jkrowling #harrypotter

We had a great birthday! Lmaoooo y’all my 28th birthday was a literal dream come true because I got to spend it with my girl, JoJo. She told me the theme was to come with something that represents fire because we’re both fire signs. I was like, dope and I just brought myself because my life is obviously straight ???. She got us these lit birthday tiaras. She took hers off because it hurt her head. I put mines on and literally forgot it was there because my hair is so bonkers I couldn’t feel if there was like, a loaf of bread in it. The cake was lavender. And I blew out my candles thinking of ten year old me, who would never believe that this would one day happen in the future. So thank you Jojo. This was the best birthday gift ever. #eatcraylove #happybirthdayharry #leoseason #thattablescapetho #jkrowling #thefanhangingfromthechandeliertho

No word on exactly what part Williams will play in the sequel scheduled to hit theaters in November 2018. Eddie Redmayne — who stars in the series as Newt Scamander — Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Carmen Ejogo and Johnny Depp will reprise their roles in the sequel. New additions to the cast include Jude Law as a young Albus Dumbledore, Callum Turner as Newt’s brother Theseus and Zoe Kravitz as Leta Lestrage who was initially introduced in the film as a photograph. Williams, whose podcast 2 Dope Queens just released its fortieth episode, will join what is already a winning franchise: The first film was released in November 2016 and grossed $814 million worldwide.
Williams isn’t the only one fangirling, J. K. Rowlings tweeted that she was just as excited for Williams to join the cast:
Soooooo happy ?

We can’t wait to see Williams work her magic on the big screen. She’s always kind of given us Ravenclaw vibes.
