Happy Birthday Naomi Watts! Celebrate By Watching Her Top Movies.
Naomi Watts maybe in the news a lot lately due to her break-up with Liev Schreiber, but that won’t stop us from helping her celebrate her 48th birthday. She’s been nominated twice for an Oscar, and her range of roles from comedy to action and science fiction to drama is incredible. Here are our favourite movies Naomi Watts has starred in.
Mulholland Drive – Originally this David Lynch film started out as a TV project in 1999, but after filming the pilot the story was never finished. It wasn’t until 2001 that people got to see the completed project, and the wait was well worth it. It follows the story of an amnesiac woman who searches for clues across Los Angeles as she tries to discover who she is.
The Ring – The first Ring movies started a craze of remaking Japanese horror films in English, and this is one of the best. Watts stars as a reporter investigating a mysterious tape that leads to the death of anyone who watches it several days later. A lot of great actors and actresses got their big break by starring in horror films, and Watts is one of them.
21 Grams – Before he was a two time Oscar winning director, Alejandro G. Iñárritu directed this film that got Watts her first Oscar nomination. she stars as one of three people brought together by a terrible accident that forever changes their lives.
The Impossible – It’s not surprising that Watts got her second Oscar nomination about a family caught in Thailand during the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. It was a powerful performance that helped make the movie as good as it was.
Demolition – This film really wasn’t given as much of a chance as it deserved. Watts and Jake Gyllenhaal match up perfectly, and create an emotional film that will touch you long after you finish watching it. It’s about a man who discovers a friendship in the unlikeliest of places after his wife dies in a horrible car crash.
