HBO Announced The Leftovers’ Final Season Premiere Date
We’ve long know that the third season of HBO’s The Leftovers would be its last, but we didn’t know exactly when it would start. That is not until yesterday when the network announced via star Justin Theroux’s Instagram account that the premiere was less than three months away.
Theroux’s Instagram account posted a teaser, announcing “The end is near. And we know the date.” When you watch the video you see a cross with the words The End Is Near flashing and when you get to the end you see the date of April 16th. One hour afterwards a teaser trailer / first look was also launched, giving fans a glimpse at what to expect from the upcoming season.
Season 3 was shot in Texas and Australia, and HBO previously announced that it would be 8 episodes long. Series regulars Theroux, Carrie Coon, Amy Brenneman, Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler, Margaret Qualley, Chris Zylka, Janel Moloney and Scott Glenn were also announced as to all be returning, along with the new season two cast of Regina King, Kevin Carroll, Jovan Adepo and Jasmin Savoy-Brown.
Real Style spoke with creator/writer Tom Perrotta in our 2016 summer issue, who talks about inspiration for the series, seasons 1 and 2, and the difference between being a screenwriter for the series and the author of the novel.
