Jennifer Lawrence’s New Movie ‘Mother!’ To Be Released In September

Jennifer Lawrence fans won’t have to wait as long as they thought they would for her new film Mother! to be released, as Paramount Pictures announced they were moving it forward a month.

Originally Mother! was scheduled to be released on October 13, but now it will be coming out on September 15th instead. While no official word has been given as to why the film was moved up on the schedule, there is speculation that it might be premiered at one of the upcoming film festivals, including the Venice Film Festival, Telluride Film Festival, or  the Toronto Film Festival. Typically when a movie makes its big debut, including opening night premiere at a film festival, movie studios want to get a move on its theatrical release to build on its momentum. TIFF makes their opening night film announcement next week, so perhaps Paramount wanted to get the jump on the move before any announcements are made.

Mother! is directed and produced by Oscar nominated director Darren Aronofsky, whose last film was 2014’s Noah. His most successful film was 2010’s Black Swan, which earned him an Oscar nomination, and star Natalia Portman a Best Actress trophy. Mother! is about a couple played by Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem whose relationship is tested when their lives an interrupted by uninvited guests arrives. The film also stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Kristin Wiig, Domnhall Gleeson and Ed Harris.

Jennifer Lawrence was last seen in Passengers and X-Men: Apocalypse last year, neither of which were as successful as expected. She has been nominated for four Academy Awards, and won for 2012’s Silver Linings Playbook.

Also opening on September 15th are the action films American Assassin and Alpha.
