For the first time in 4 years, model Kate Upton is back on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.
The beautiful blonde was shot in Fiji for her fifth photo spread in the popular annual issue of the sport’s magazine. She first appeared in 2011 as an 18 year old, when she won Sport’s Illustrated’s Rookie of the Year honour. She followed that up by appearing on the cover for back to back years in 2012 and 2013. There was a lot of debate on who would appear on this year’s cover, and rumours had spread about Upton’s supposed demands that if she was going to shot a spread for the issue that she had to be promised the cover. Regardless if the rumours are true or not, Upton herself didn’t find out that she would be on the cover until Monday. And even then she didn’t know which cover had been chosen. Let alone that there would be three covers.
Apparently Sport’s Illustrated didn’t know they were going to go with three covers either until late in the game. They just couldn’t decide which to go with, and figured it would be easier to release three of them.
The 2017 SI Swimsuit issue will be available on newsstands everywhere beginning tomorrow morning. All three covers.
