While Katy Perry might have released a new single last year as the NBC Olympics song Rise, the 32 year old hasn’t released any new, original music since her fourth album Prism was released in 2013. That all changed this morning when she released Chained to the Rhythm, complete with a cute music video.
The upbeat, catchy tune is sure to be a hit, and in it Bob Marley’s grandson Skip is featured, adding a reggae beat to the pop song. Perry’s frequent collaborator Max Martin worked together on the song. Martin has been with Perry from the beginning, working on such hits as I Kissed A Girl, Roar and Dark Horse. All three of which have climbed to number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Martin produced the track, while singer Sia helped write the track.
The song was premiered earlier this week for a few fans, and will surely be the song of choice when she performs at the 59th annual Grammy Awards this Sunday evening. You can watch the video and listen to the track below.
