Lea Michele To Star In A 30th Anniversary Performance Of The Little Mermaid

Lea Michele is about to go Under The Sea as Ariel in a special, live, two-night performance of The Little Mermaid.

The Hollywood Bowl made the announcement yesterday that they were reviving the popular Disney classic animated film for the film’s 30th anniversary, and that the former Glee star would be playing the lead role. Also starring will be Peter Gallagher as King Triton, Leo Gallo as her love interest, and Harvey Fierstein as Ursula the sea witch. The cast will perform the songs from the Oscar and Grammy-winning soundtrack, with a live orchestra providing the score, while the movie plays on a large screen. The songs include “Kiss the Girl,” “Under the Sea,” and “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” as well as songs from the Broadway production.

The Hollywood Bowl also announced that they would be using state-of-the-art projection mapping technology to project “living scenery” across the theater. It would give the theatre a theme-park style experience for the audience.

The Little Mermaid‘s 30th anniversary production takes place May 17 and 18 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
