Listen To Lorde’s New Single, Green Light
Finally, after much anticipation, Lorde is back with a brand new single. The 20 year old has been promising her fans that new music was on its way, and now we get to not only hear the first single off her upcoming album and see the video, but we’ve also gotten to find out the new album’s name and see the cover artwork as well.
The Royals singer was teasing fans earlier this week on social media by posting short video clips, and on Wednesday she released the song’s name. She started by tweeting “it’s the first chapter of a story i’m gonna tell you, the story of the last 2 wild, fluorescent years of my life. this is where we begin” and “i am so proud of this song. it’s very different, and kinda unexpected. it’s complex and funny and sad and joyous and it’ll make you DANCE”. And then yesterday afternoon she dropped the single and the video.
Before posting the song online, Lorde premiered Green Light on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio show, where she stated that she’d worked on it, and her entire upcoming album, with Jack Antonoff. She said she’d been working with him for 18 months on it, and that the song is about a heartbreak. The video for Green Light is directed by Grant Singer, who also recently directed Taylor Swift and ZAYN’s video for their single off the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack, I Don’t Wanna Live Forever.
While the upcoming album has been revealed to be called Melodrama, no word on when it will be released other than this summer.
