But to those who argue that there’s no reason to make your bed in the morning because you’re only going to mess it up later, I have news for you. It turns out that there are several pretty good reasons why you should make your bed every morning. Yep, every morning. That “pointless task” might actually have a purpose after all.
Here are five reasons you should make your bed every morning:

It might seem silly to think a simple task like making your bed can start the day off on the right foot, but it does! When you make your bed in the morning, you’re able to walk out of your room and know that you’ve already achieved something. It may make you more inclined to complete another task, then another, and another, leading to a productive day. Your morning will start off with a small sense of pride and accomplishment, readying you to take on the day!

Self-discipline is developed by overcoming both mental and physical resistance. When your alarm goes off, the last thing you probably want to do is make your bed before jumping in the shower and getting ready for the day. But making your bed every morning helps cultivate discipline. National Sleep Foundation, there may be a correlation between making the bed and getting a better night’s sleep. The study found that individuals and couples that made their bed either every day or almost every day reported better sleep than those who rarely ever or never made their bed.

Let’s be honest: a bed that’s made looks a lot better in a bedroom than an unmade bed. Housekeeping and organizational guru Rachel Hoffman says, “Taking a moment to straighten up your bedding creates an orderly and neat focal point in what might otherwise be a messy disaster.” Neater surroundings can make you feel more organized, accomplished and less stressed. Also, there’s nothing better than climbing into a neat, perfectly made bed after a long day.
