Matthew McConaughey-Anne Hathaway Drama Serenity To Be Released In September
We haven’t even gotten to the 2018 Academy Awards, yet talk is already starting to happen in regards to next year’s show. The Matthew McConaughey / Anne Hathaway film Serenity has been getting a lot of buzz, and now it’s being given a very nice, awards season release date of September 28.
Serenity follows the story of a fishing boat captain played by McConaughey who is forced to deal with his past after a mysterious woman (Hathaway) arrives on a small island in the Caribbean. His simple life starts to be not as simple as he likes, and the woman leaves him questioning reality. Also starring in the film are Jason Clarke, Djimon Hounsou and Diane Lane. The film is written and directed by Steven Knight who wrote and directed Locke, as well as wrote the scripts for Dirty Pretty Things”and Eastern Promises.
McConaughy and Hathaway previously co-starred together in Intersteller, and individually won Oscars for Dallas Buyers Club and Les Miserables respectively.
Typically September releases aren’t as strong as other months, and so far the only other films opening on the 28th are Night School and Smallfoot.
