Michelle Obama Side-Eye Seen ‘Round The World On Inauguration Day Wasn’t Shade According To Her
Remember inauguration day?
Boy, was that a sh-tshow. And no one expressed the disdain many of us were feeling at watching the order of sh-tshow events take place than our girl Michelle Obama. While Barack tried his best to keep a constant smile on, Michelle slipped up at times and displayed facial expressions that we were all showcasing at home. Who could forget this one?

The memes that came from this moment, whether or not it was a real side-eye, were absolutely hilarious. But while speaking at the American Institute of Architects convention recently, she made it clear that she wasn’t really side-eyeing anyone or trying to throw shade. Instead, she was trying her best to maintain her composure while dealing with a lot of emotions at once.
“So that moment of transition, right before the doors opened and we welcomed in the new family, our kids were leaving out the back door in tears, saying goodbye to people,” she said according to Today. “I didn’t want to have tears in my eyes because people would swear I was crying because of the new president.”
Considering that Michelle seemingly welcomed Melania with open arms and knew all eyes were on her during inauguration and pre-inauguration festivities, we believe her when she says that what we thought was happening, wasn’t really happening. However, that doesn’t make the image of a composure face that read more like a “What in the entire hell am I doing here?” face any less funny.
