Rock Fall’s Punk Beauty Trend Like A True Rebel
There’s no doubt that the 90s are back, and with the return of this decade we also welcome the decade’s punk spirit. The fall 2016 runways included a number of tributes to the punk scene, and the beauty looks were no exception. Whether you’re ready to dive in by bleaching your brows or would rather play it relatively safe with a dark lip, there’s a way for everyone to incorporate a bit of punk beauty into their routine. Here is our roundup of our favourite punk beauty trends to try – no electric guitar required.
Dark lips
Fittingly, dark, bold lips have replaced the neutral, pink shades of summer. Try out a deep, wine coloured red as seen at Louis Vuitton and Marni shows, or if you’re feeling daring, choose a pure black like those seen at Dior or Fenty x Puma. In order to make this trend daytime appropriate, keep the rest of your makeup minimal to keep the spotlight on your bold pout.
Spider lashes
Though first made popular by model Twiggy in the 1960s, spider lashes give off a distinctly punk vibe. Jason Wu took the trend to an extreme, by heavily clumping lashes together into a few sections, while Emanuel Ungaro had a more mod approach, by delicately separating lashes into even sections. If you’re unsure how to execute this look yourself, look for mascaras that are specially designed for that spider effect.
Bleached brow
Whether you love them or hate them, you can’t deny that bleached brows make the ultimate punk statement. At Christian Dior, models sported shockingly-white eyebrows, while at Givenchy, brows were a more subtle light blonde shade. If you’re willing to try the trend but nervous for the results, opt for a temporary spray that is easily washed out.
