It may have the been years or even a week ago since you stepped foot into BCBG, but latest news about the one-stop shop retailer for prom dresses, cocktail dresses, evening dresses, little black dresses, and more has us teary-eyed.

According to Bloomberg, BCBG is closing a massive number of stores for restructuring. Apparently, the online market has taken a toll on their company, which was founded by designer Max Azria in 1989, and they’re hoping to cope with the debut burden by reportedly axing some of its 570 independent, worldwide boutique locations. There are 175 stores BCBG in the U.S. alone. In the midst of closing their doors, they will focus more on e-commerce and shops within shops was announced earlier this week.

Seth Lubove, a spokesman for BCBG at Sitric Co. told Bloomberg that the brand had “too large a physical retail footprint.” “In order to remain viable, the brand — like so many others in it’s industry — must realign its business to effectively compete in today’s shopping environment,” he concluded.

Azria first opened the company’s first boutique in Los Angeles in 1992. It’s tough to say goodbye but their 25 year run has been impressive. And online shopping is just a click away!
