There were already whisperings and rumblings that Shamari DeVoe was the firecracker on the newest season of “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” And in just the second episode of the season, fans are starting to learn why.

Yesterday, Sharmari revealed that she once offered to open her marriage to New Edition singer Ronnie DeVoe, 51, so she could experiment with another woman.

Shamari, 38, said, “We were on the brink of divorce. We were going through some really bad times and there was a girl that I was interested in and I wanted to do something different. I was bi-curious!”

Shamari said “It was a point where he could do his thing and I could do mine. Y’all know each other and are dating there people and it’s okay. It’s not cheating.”

The other housewives had plenty of questions. NeNe wanted to know if she’d told Ronnie about her plans as they came up. Cynthia Bailey wondered if they shared the identities of their other partners. And Eva Marcille wondered about the level of confidentiality. “Would you run into these people and be like, ‘I had sex with your wife yesterday?’

Shamari answered all questions with a “Yes.” She said, “There was nothing off limits. We could do anything. It was awesome.” But that wasn’t exactly the case because Shamari couldn’t be with another man— but she said it didn’t bother her.

“As long as I was able to go about in my bi-curious ways then I was cool with that. I didn’t want to be with another man because I had my husband.”

Shamari said during the year, she slept with two women while Ronnie slept with ten.

The arrangement only lasted for a year. After Shamari, who married Ronnie in 2006 and had been with him for 17 years, wanted out and told Ronnie she wanted things to go back to the way they were before.

“I started the open relationship and I stopped the open relationship. I realized the grass wasn’t greener on the other side.”
