Spring 2018 Runway Inspired Prom Dresses
While it seems that we just parted ways with an endless season of snow, ice and slush, another Canadian spring is actually around the corner. For any prom queens heading off to the final bash of their high school years, prom night is officially on the horizon. Whether you are attending with your high school sweetheart or a group of closest gal pals, the evening calls for all manner of glitter and adornment. Luckily for any trendsetters who want to attend the biggest party of the year looking like a runway model, we have scoured the catwalks. From feminine bows to sorbet colours, here are a few designer looks and the budget-friendly alternatives that will help you master killer prom style.
Zuhair Murad
On the Zuhair Murad runway, this deep red halter creation made a loud and proud statement. Although the racy thigh-high slit, V-neckline and cut-out bodice may be too risqué for your prom dress code, you can always adopt the style in a more modest fashion. We are liking this Le Château Mesh Halter Gown, $140, which captures the design aesthetic for less. With its rich crimson tone, subtle slit and flowing long hemline, this dress can certainly bring a red carpet vibe to the dance floor. Meanwhile, the high halter neckline and defined waistline offer a ladylike feel.
Badgley Mischka
With punchy blush tones returning to the runways, this silky Badgley Mischka frock is certainly en vogue. The oversized bow across the bustline is a statement look, with delicate straps for a finishing touch. If you’re aiming to rock a pretty in pink look this prom, try mastering the look in this Black Halo Monroe Gown, $530. The spaghetti straps, sweetheart neckline, big bow and Barbie doll pink shade certainly channel this trend.
The eveningwear collections this season have been feeling the blues, with all shades from pastel to electric making an appearance. At Ralph Russo, this delicately pleated, bright blue maxi was decorated with a ruffled, off-the-shoulder neckline and barely there straps. To steal the look for your own special occasion, we suggest this similar navy WAYF Lauren Off the Shoulder Tiered Gown, $227.
