Susan Sarandon Wants CNN To Get Their Priorities Straight
When the news broke yesterday that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were calling it quits, social media went crazy. Celebrity news websites such as TMZ went into overdrive reporting everything they could find. The story was everywhere, but not at all celebrities thought it should be as big of a deal as it was on some news sites. Former Real Style cover girl Susan Sarandon was one of them.
Sarandon is well known for being outspoken when it comes to being an activist and speaking her mind on injustice, and yesterday when the Jolie/Pitt divorce was the top story with a big picture and bold headline on the CNN website, Sarandon took a screenshot and Tweeted about it. “@CNN Priorities. #TerrenceCrutcher”. Sarandon is of course referring to the story of Terence Crutcher, the 40-year-old black man who was unarmed and killed by police after his vehicle broke down in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Monday. The story was on CNN’s homepage as well, but it wasn’t the feature story and in much smaller type on the left.
Sarandon wasn’t the only celebrity speaking out about the amount of coverage the divorce is garnering either. Whoopi Goldberg mocked the news during The View, while Boy George tweeted “It’s sad about Brad and Angelina but it’s also none of our business!”
