Pass the Kleenex. Ryan Edwards breaks down in tears while discussing his emotional fight with his father, Larry Edwards, in a preview for part two of the Teen Mom OG finale special.
In the clip above, host Dr. Drew Pinsky asks Edwards’ new girlfriend, MacKenzie Standifer, about the nontelevised disagreement that was talked about earlier this season on TMOG.
“I don’t wanna go there. … Either way, family is family, and whether you fight or whether you don’t, in the end when you have nobody, all you have is your family,” Mackenzie tells Dr. Drew in the sneak peek. “And their relationship is fine now, and he’s always gonna be his dad.”
She adds, “One day, he just woke up and was like, ‘I need to apologize to my dad.’”
When Dr. Drew asks Ryan if he said sorry to be a “bigger person,” the 27-year-old dad — who shares son Bentley, 8, with TMOG star Maci Bookout — is overcome with emotion. “I mean, I felt bad for Mom too, and I didn’t wanna be mad at Dad,” he says as his eyes begin welling up with tears.
Dr. Drew attempts to comfort Ryan by telling him, “I see you have a real emotion here. It must be very hard for you. I’m sorry.”
“Good riddance. It was a long time coming,” Larry spat during one particularly heated scene with one of the show’s producers. “It’s just Ryan. I’m over his lies. I’m over his laziness, selfishness. I’m done with it. … I’m done with him forever. I don’t want him anywhere around me ever, and I never wanna be around him ever ’cause I’m tired of that bloodsucking leech. I’m over it.”
However, it appeared as though father and son put their past behind them on the Monday, November 28, finale of the hit MTV reality show, when the Edwards family attended Bookout’s wedding to Taylor McKinney together.
