Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale season 2 has just been announced to return on April 25th. The series has been a hit among critics and fans alike, and winning several awards along the way, and its return has been highly anticipated.
It was revealed on Sunday that the upcoming 13 episode season will focus on Offred’s (played by Emmy Award and Golden Globe winning actress Elisabeth Moss) pregnancy and her struggle to find her daughter. Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne, Strahovski, Samira Wiley, Alexis Bledel, Ann Dowd, and Max Minghella are all returning for the second season as well, with Oscar winning actress Marisa Tomei appearing as a guest star.
Representatives of the show also revealed that the second season will be expanded to included locations outside of the original novel, including seeing the Colonies. But don’t go expecting the series to veer too far from the novel either as Margaret Atwood’s work is still considered to be the driving force behind the it.
Season 2 is set to start on April 25th on Hulu, with new episodes released every Wednesday. It’s been rumoured that the second season will be even darker than the first, but it’s hard to tell that from the trailer, other than the creepy rendition of the Buffalo Springfield song For What Its Worth.
