This Is Why You Should Put Sponges In Your Refrigerator
Eating fruits and vegetables is one of the healthiest things you can do for your body. This is because they are loaded with vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants, which protect against heart disease and cancer, to name a few.
But one of the negatives about fruits and veggies is that they go bad so quickly. Green beans, broccoli, and strawberries, for example, spoil within 1-2 days!
Is there a way to extend the lifespan of your fruits and veggies? A young man from Bristol, England discovered that the answer is yes!
All you need to do is remove all the fruits and veggies from your storage drawer in your fridge. Then, place three fresh sponges inside.
Voila! Your fruits and veggies will be preserved longer!
How does this work?
The sponges absorb the extra moisture within the storage bin. The more moisture that is removed, the longer your fruits and veggies will last. Just remember to change out the sponges from time to time, depending on how moist they become. If you don’t, it won’t work as well.
Here’s 3 other fun tips you should know about:
#1 – How To Peel Garlic in 10 Seconds
1. Peel off several cloves and throw into a lidded container.
2. Shake the container vigorously for 10 seconds.
3. Open lid and your cloves are peeled!
#2 – How To Green Clean Your Cutting Board
The last thing you want to do is spray your cutting board – the place where you prepare your food – with toxic chemicals. Try this instead!
1. Add 1 cup of vinegar and 1 cup of water to a spray bottle.
2. Cover the board with the mixture and let sit for 30 seconds.
3. Wipe it clean and your board is disinfected and deodorized!
#3 – How to Clean Strong Food Smells From Your Hands
Some foods, like garlic and onions, are so pungent that they leave a smell that even soap can’t remove. Believe it or not, all you need to do is scrub your hands with toothpaste, and the odor will be eliminated entirely, leaving your hands minty fresh.
