This Spice Significantly Improves Your Vision, According To Research
If you wear contacts or glasses, you understand the struggle of eyes that aren’t at their best. You might need a new prescription often, as your eyes worsen. Even if you wear your glasses every day, they aren’t doing anything to make your eyesight better. Without addressing the root of the problem, your vision will only continue to worsen. Thanks to a recent study, it turns out there might be a natural way to improve your eyesight and save your vision from its impending doom.
The Study
A recent study has shown that
saffron may help naturally improve your vision. In the study, macular degeneration patients who ate a diet containing saffron experienced cell recovery, resulting in improved vision. The participants took an oral supplement of 20 mg of saffron every day for three months and saw a significant improvement in retinal function and visual acuity.
Professor Silvia Bisti conducted the research in patients with age-related macular degeneration. She noted that after taking saffron, her patients experienced an improvement in their vision. “Saffron appears to affect genes that regulate the fatty-acid content of the cell membrane, and this makes the vision tougher and more resilient,” she explained.
How Does It Work?
Saffron is often used as a food spice. Thanks to this study, it may now be included in treatment programs to help those who suffer from disease such as macular degeneration, which causes blindness.
Saffron contains antioxidant carotenoids known as crocin and crocetin. The spice possesses strong anti-oxidative, cellular and neuro-protective properties. The antioxidant activity in crocin is extremely powerful. It has the ability to prevent the formation of peroxidized lipids – tissue damage in the body that can lead to several diseases. It also works to partly restore superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity – one of the body’s most powerful natural antioxidant enzymes. SOD is one of the body’s main anti-oxidant defenses. It plays a critical role in reducing oxidative stress in the body. Saffron’s ability to restore SOD activity in patients suffering from macular degeneration promotes healing from the inside out.
Taking Saffron For Eye Health
If your eyes need a little boost, talk to a health care professional about taking saffron supplements. According to the results of this study, taking just 20 mg of saffron per day can provide amazing benefits for your vision! Look for saffron supplements online or at your local health food store.
