We’ve known for awhile that Ariana Grande and John Legend had remade the Beauty and the Beast theme song for the upcoming live adaptation of the film, but other than a few sample clips we hadn’t heard the whole thing. Now, thanks to the release of the video ahead of the March 17th release of the film, we get to listen to it all.
Beauty and the Beast stars Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast, and both of them are seen in clips of the movie in the video, including one of them dancing to the music. As for the singers themselves, Legend is playing the piano inside a grand ballroom, while Grande is dressed in a red ball gown signing alongside him.
The song itself stays pretty true to the original. In the 1991 animated version of the film, Angela Lansbury’s Mrs. Potts character sings the tune, and in the new version Emma Thompson takes the reigns of the song. In case you were wondering, she too is playing Mrs. Potts. The soundtrack of the 1991 movie had Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson take it to the next level, and along the way they won two Grammys, a Golden Globe and an Oscar.
The Beauty and the Beast soundtrack is due out on March 10th, and it features not only Grande and Legend’s duet, but a new song by Celine Dion as well called How Does A Moment Last Forever.
