With the third solo Thor movie due to hit theatres this November, fans have been wondering when the first trailer would appear. Many thought it would premiere before the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy film that hits screens everywhere next month, but Marvel decided to drop it this morning instead.
The trailer is set to a Led Zeppelin soundtrack, and features Thor (once again played by Chris Hemsworth) getting his butt kicked by the Goddess of Death Hela (played by Cate Blanchett). Not only does she smash Thor’s signature hammer Mjolnir into a million pieces, but it looks like she also binds the God of Thunder in chains and sends him off world. Once Thor is gone, Hela tries to take over Asgard, but she faces opposition in the form of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and the rest of the Asgardians. As for Thor, he ends up on a planet called Sakaar and forced to fight by The Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum). As for who he has to fight, well Thor calls him a “friend from work”, but it doesn’t look like the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) is in any mood to be a friend. You also catch a glimpse of newcomer Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie character on Sakaar as well.
Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3.
