Watch The First Trailer For The Upcoming Netflix Series The Crown
From Narcos to Daredevil and Stranger Things, Netflix has been known to produce some extremely popular series, and their latest may have even more people flocking to the popular streaming site. The Crown launches on November 4th, and by the looks of the first trailer it’s going to be a huge hit.
The Crown follows the story of Queen Elizabeth II, from her last few years as a princess, all the way up to her claiming the throne and beginning her long rule. It covers her relationship and marriage to Prince Philip and explores her at times complex relationship with Prime Minister Winston Churchill. The 25 year old is forced to rule a British Empire that is in decline and a political world that is in disarray after a second world war. For the first time you will get to see the Queen’s private journey that is hidden behind a very public facade.
Claire Foy plays Elizabeth, with Matt Smith taking on the role of Prince Philip and John Lithgow playing Winston Churchill. Peter Morgan wrote and created the series, which means good things for the show as well. After all he wrote the hit movie The Queen, and was nominated for an Oscar for his work. He also wrote The Audience, a stage play that takes a look at the Queen’s meetings with Prime Ministers throughout her reign. It was The Audience that served as an inspiration for The Crown.
The ten episode series The Crown will arrive on Netflix on November 4th.
