Have Dr. Simone Whitmore and her husband Cecil kissed and made up? That remains to be seen. But the two revealed on the final episode of Married to Medicine that they have agreed to put a pause on their divorce since Cecil decided to give up something – I mean, someone – very important to him.
The finale dealt us a good shocker. After being adamant about divorcing her husband Cecil of 21 years, I thought there was no way that Dr. Simone would ever be open to continuing to fight for her marriage. In the episode prior, co-star Toya Bush-Harris questioned whether Simone really wanted a divorce. And Simone let her know in about 1,000 decibels too loud that she was going through with it.
“Yes, I want a divorce!” she yelled. “If I can not feel loved in the home I sleep in! And you’re criticizing me!”
So, not only did Cecil find it difficult to say “I love you” to Simone, but he found it difficult to let go of a platonic friendship with a woman named Tammy (who he had no problem saying he loved).
“The last couple of years, I’ve told him he’s making other people more important, and I’ve validated my feelings in counseling, and I know that I’m right on this issue,” Simone said. “[Tammy] is a huge problem and has been for five years, and I’ve complained about this over and over for five years.”
Simone went on to say that Cecil invited Tammy over for Christmas, and the woman even stayed at their home for eight days (although she lives in Atlanta). Cecil has said that Tammy is just a friend / golfing buddy / sister-type. And Simone believes him, but that’s still a man prioritizing another woman over his wife. And that’s a big no-no.
After hearing all of this tomfoolery, Dr. G., the psychiatrist, along with other cast mates swarmed around Cecil to knock some sense into him. And luckily, Cecil got it. He told Simone that he would throw away his friendship with Tammy to save his marriage. Wow!
The host, Andy Cohen asked them where this takes them going forward, and Simone said something that happily surprised everyone.
“Limbo,” she said. “I’m going to tell the lawyer we’re not going through with the divorce, to take it off the table, and then we have to get in counseling and be devoted to communicating…”
And following the show, the two are still working on their marriage. I hope that they’re able to work it out…if Cecil gives Simone the love she’s asking for.
“Cecil and I left the reunion committed to one another to work on our marriage,” Simone said to Bravo. “We are in counseling individually and together…We are still living separately but hopeful for a union under one roof soon.”
