#WorldAidsDay: Rihanna And Prince Harry Take HIV Tests Together In Barbados
To highlight the importance of knowing your status, Rihanna and Price Harry took HIV tests together in Barbados on World Aids Day today.
According to the Daily Mail, Prince Harry convinced Rihanna to take the test with him in public today after chatting at the Kensington Oval cricket ground last night where he delivered a speech. This morning the pair sat next to each other at a concert in Bridgetown marking Barbados’ 50th year of independence, and shortly after they had their blood drawn at the “Man Aware” event held by the Barbados National HIV/AIDS Commission at a local HIV drop-in center which targets men. After 20 minutes of waiting both received negative results.
Though the Prince teased Rihanna about the pain of the needle, the Bajan beauty could handle the poke. “You made it seem like it hurts,” she told him. “It’s not as painful as you said this morning.”
After the test, Rihanna told those present, “I am very positive about what you are doing here.” And as for the finger prick, she noted: “This is so easy.”
The hope is that other locals will feel the same and take their sexual health into their own hands thanks to the example Rihanna is setting to reduce the stigma of HIV/AIDs in the Caribbean. Don’t forget to check your status stateside today as well.
